CU Buffs to add “Gus the kicking mule” to roster?

Earlier this week, I asked Jon Embree about his team’s struggles covering kickoffs early in the season.Colorado is last in the Pac-12 in kickoff coverage.

Embree indicated he wants to kick the ball into the end zone and get more touchbacks, allowing opponents to start at the 25-yard line. The problem is, the Buffs don’t seem to have a kicker who can regularly kick the ball into the end zone, let alone kicking it out of the back of the end zone. Let’s remember the Buffs play seven of their 12 games at altitude.

“Trust me, we’re looking at everybody,” Embree said. “We’ll get Gus the kicking mule out here I guess. We are trying.”
