Colorado and Purdue are finalizing an agreement to play a home-and-home series in football in 2017 and 2018, but the deal isn’t done yet so the schools aren’t confirming it.
Several previous reports this summer by other outlets had the Buffs and Boilermakers planning to play in 2016-17 in a home and-home series. Those are not the correcnt years.
The Buffs and Boilermakers were likely to be paired together in the first round of games in the Pac-12-Big Ten football scheduling partnership in those same years 2017-18, but the Pac-12 backed out of the deal last month.
CU plans to schedule Big Ten opponents within reasonable proximity to Chicago in the future so that it can connect with a large alumni base in the Chicago area ona fairly regular basis.
CU previously scheduled a series with Minnesota in 2020 and 2021. That series will likely be played even though it’s not close to Chicago. If the Pac-12-Big Ten partnership is not revived at some point in some fashion in the next few years, don’t be surprised to see CU schedule games against Northwestern or Illinois or Iowa down the line.
