Former Colorado quarterbacks Charles Johnson and Joel Klatt team up on their radio show five days a week in Denver on 87.7 FM The Ticket. They will go head-to-head April 9 in the alumni flag football game preceding the Colorado spring football game at Folsom Field.
Former Buffs coaches Bill McCartney and Gary Barnett are serving as coaches in the alumni game and were each allowed to select one player, who would then help them assemble the rest of the team.
McCartney chose Johnson, who is most famous for the fifth down victory over Missouri in 1990 and coming off the bench in the national title game that season to take over for injured starter Darian Hagan and leading the Buffs to their only national title.Barnett chose Klatt, who was his starting quarterback during his final three seasons in Boulder 2003-05.
Johnson and Klatt spent a little time on their radio show Monday afternoon talking smack to each other.
“You can’t run an option offense in flag football,” Klatt said.
“In a way I guess this can be an opportunity for you guys to get back together again and figure out how to beat Iowa State on the road,” Johnson said.
“All right, you go get all your old fellas together,” Klatt said. “All of you with your bunions and your gout and your hemorrhoids, you all get yourselves together, patch yourselves up, have a couple of brews before the game and us young fellas will come out and slap you around for awhile.”

Now I am as excited for this as I am for the regular spring game!!!!!!!!!
April 9, 2011 is starting to shape up as a really fun day in Boulder. Don't miss it
Has there been a roster released of alumni who are planning to participate in this game?
