A couple small skirmishes between players broke out during the first three practices of spring ball and were soon broken up by teammates.
Under former coach Dan Hawkins, fights at practice were not tolerated and practices would be stopped to make the entire team run if one erupted. Embree doesn’t necessarily condone fighting, but he understands players will get on each others’ nerves at times.
“I expect it,” Embree said. “When I was a player here, we fought each other. That’s part of the deal. Now there is a right way and a wrong way to go about it. I think the guys here understand where that line is at. But I expect it. I wouldn’t like anybody blocking me after a certain point if I was on defense. The same on offense. You see every time they get the ball we’re trying to get it from them and that gets a little old after awhile. So I don’t have a problem with that.”
