Each year I participate in the voting for the Associated Press All-Big 12 team. This is the ballot I submitted today.
The team is picked by about 25 members of the media who cover the conference. It will be announced over the course of the next few days. There are always some deserving players who get left off these teams, but I can tell you we really try our best to do a solid job picking these teams.
I spent all season watching Big 12 games and then I spent part of last week beginning to work on my ballot and about three hours of my Sunday afternoon finalizing, while trading emails with other writers around the conference getting input from them about guys they cover who might be deserving.
Four Buffs made my team. That’s not a bad number for a 3-9 season. I forwarded their names to all the other writers as players I thought were deserving of consideration.

How could you leave Goodman off your ballot?
how could you have left off marcus burton?
Geer, McKnight, Smith I like, it will be hard to get Smart on there, he was not that dynamic or game breaking. 3 wins, 3 players, it all adds up… You need to coach the kids better so that we can have more Big 12 performers, and thus more big 12 wins… We really need Jimmy Smith to come back to the team, and not go pro!!!
How do you not include Chappelle Brown? He had 85 tackles (22 more than Smith and before the Nebraska game) and 3 and a half sacks. No interceptions but he had a much better season than Smith in my opinion.
