“We’re young” excuse no good this week

Colorado fans hate hearing how young their team is entering Game 8 of Year Four in the Dan Hawkins era, but the fact of the matter is the team is young and inexperienced in many areas.

Just look at the wide receivers, defensive line, offensive line and quarterback positions. It’s a legitimate problem.

But in season in which there wasn’t supposed to be any excuses, the youth alibi goes out the window this week. The Buffs are hosting a Missouri team every bit as young as they are and the Buffs are the home team. So they ought to have at least that much working in their favor.

Last season Missouri featured 12 senior starters. No wonder the Tigers crushed the Buffs 58-0 in Columbia, Mo.  This season they have only six senior starters and only eight starters in the two-deep depth chart.

Oh ya, 58-0. Thanks again Dan for breaking the continuous game scoring record by going for at TD instead of a field goal. And I remember your comment about why you did it which is interesting now in that it flies in the direct face of why you took down McCartney's sign, "The pride and tradition of the Colorado Buffaloes will not be entrusted to the timid or the weak." Some day you will look back and realize how your words ran so contrary to your actions and how your actions tore down this program.
