My formula for bowl eligibility

Buck up Buffs fans. There is still hope for a bowl game this season, and it’s really not all that farfetched. OK, it’s a little bit of a long shot, but why not be a glass-is-half-full person?

Of course, I’m assuming the team continues to get better, cut down the errors on defense and develop its young talent on offense to make this happen.

Here is how it could be done.

The Buffs are 1-3. Let’s assume they lose at Texas and at Oklahoma State. That takes them to five losses.

Now, let’s say they find a way to finally get not just one road win, but two, at Kansas State and Iowa State. That gives them three wins and five losses.

Then it comes down to winning 3 of four home games against Kansas, Missouri, Texas A&M and Nebraska.

Sure, it might be a bit much to ask considering how this team has performed, but it’s also not out of the realm of possibility. The Buffs could finish 6-6 and go back to the Independence Bowl or the Texas Bowl with a chance to give Dan Hawkins his first winning season in Boulder.

Here is the problem with your formula. At 5-3 in the Big XII there is a strong possibility that we would go to the Big XII championship. If that happens we would most likely lose to winner of the South. That puts us at 6-7 and ineligible for a bowl.

So basically they would need to win the same amount of road games in one season that Hawkins has won in over three seasons now. NOT LIKELY. KU, MU and NU are all legit top 25 teams. No way we beat all three, maybe one upset.

You are joking right? This team is a joke. CU will finish 3-9, and that's being somewhat generous. Do some real reporting instead of hopelessly dreaming. Maybe the next article could be about how Cody will make First Team Big XII.

What's kyle smoking? And give me some. I could see us winning maybe 2 of those home games (hopefully NU being one of them) and I'm sure we'll find a way to lose at least one of those road games (remember ISU a couple yrs ago?).

exactly, some of you are probably expecting we're gonna waltz into ames and manhatten and take care of business, but really? really? has hawkins won AT ALL on the road? no. and we beat both of those teams last year by a combined eyelash AT HOME, and we're at lot worse this year.

At best this team is 4-8 unless they bench Hawkins and get a real QB. This is a good team with a playmaker QB and does anyone believe that Codey would be a QB on any division 1 team in the country?

" Not so fast my friends"

It has to be 6 and 2 in the big 12.

  7. no way, unless they come up with something new, will we beat kstate, or istate on the road. these teams are incomplete, but have good, experienced coaches, and are much more atheletic, at least from what i can see on tv, compared to the buffs.
