I spent a few minutes with CU quarterback Cody Hawkins the other day and asked him how he feels about the team and its chances for a good season this fall now that fall camp is just a few weeks away. He stopped short of echoing his father’s “10-2 and no excuses” line, but he sounds like he believes it’s possible.
“I really excited and probably more confident than I probably ever have been, not just necessarily optimistic,” he said. “I know that we’ve got good guys. I know we’ve got guys who are putting in the work, and they’re guys that I want to go to war with every day. They’re guys that I’m comfortable being around, guys that I know have put in the time, guys that are invested in the program.
“So I’m excited about that. Finally, you know, when you take talent, depth and experience are really important to winning ball games, and any time you can put those three together, you’re going to have a chance to win. Last year we had a lot of talent, but, I mean, depth and experience are hard to find. This year I think we’re going to be in great shape and I’m excited about it.
