Grossnickle wins another state title

Colorado place-kicker/punter recruit Zach Grossnickle helped his Denver East High School soccer team win the state championship last fall, and he just helped the Angels win another state crown in a nontraditional sport.

Turns out Grossnickle played on the Ultimate Frisbee team at East this spring for fun and to spend time with friends and the team recently beat Lakewood High School for the state title. Apparently, ultimate frisbee is big on the CU campus as well and Boulder is home to the national Ultimate Players Association.  So Grossnickle appears to be headed to the right place.

This clip from Youtube will give you a little perspective on the sport.

  1. Sandy says:

Official definition of Ultimate, the sport:

""Player defined and controlled non-contact team sport played with a flying disc on a playing surface with end zones in which all actions are governed by the 'Spirit of the Game™.'"
